mounting 7" LCD into a 10" frame

i'm new to this forum, but i have been reading these threads for quite some time.
i recently acquired an old Barco data projector 2100. it has a 10" (4:3) LCD inside that's has a "stain" like problem on it. i took it out and i want to replace it with a 7" lilliput.
the problem is that the old LCD has a 10" meatl & plastic frame (kind of resembles the frame that's around a regular LCD) that has 4 small built-in screws. i want to take the new 7" i bought and some how fit it inside the old frame so i won't have to create a whole new frame (which might not be as straight as the old one).
if anybody has any suggestions let me know.
