Lowering open loop gain, with this kind of circuit, drive it to a lowering of overall distortion. Only 20 dB of *general* NFB are made possible because the remaining (rough) 60 dB of NFB are "hidden" in local degeneration. Total distortion, if amplifer were supplied by an *iideal* PSU would be the same.

Unfortunately, lowering loop gain drive the circuit to cut down the PSRR ratio and increase auto-IMD caused by power output stage on preceeding input signal stage. If a separated PSU is not provided for signal stage, then distortion increase drastically with the power drawn by load, especially if we get up with volume knob. In this case a sophisticated low NFB amplifiers play poorly musical than normal designed power amplifier ("a la Self").
