Motor run Capacitor ?

The multi terminal amrads are primarily made so technicians don’t need 50 capacitor sizes in the truck.

The price reflects the versatility more than the quality, while the quality is of course very good also.

If you need just one, purchase the value that you need. An HVAC tech has different considerations.

Both the AmRad and Genteq are EIA-456-A rated which means they’re good for min. 60,000 hours of operational life.

That’s a better life rating than any boutique audio capacitor ever, probably by a factor of 2.

Again, the acceptable tolerance is printed on the motor itself. Usually +/- 5 or 6%. 3% allows for some variance over time. Either way, stay within recommended limits.

Using 8uf for 7uf puts you at 12.5%

“Motors are designed with a specific, nominal rating and tolerance.

If anything is outside that rating, the motor will run either faster or slower. Either way, the end result will be that the machine will not work properly, and the motor, capacitor, or any other component in the machine will receive additional stress that will cause damage, make noise, and require repair. “

...you can jump to taps on top and turn it into many .... different values .

Home Depot sells that part and an off-brand (which sure looks the same under the label):

I have a sample of the off-brand, it looks fine, I have not tried putting the juice to it.

If you know what you need, single-value caps are much less expensive. But for a repair tech, a complete set is bulky and ties-up inventory capital, so the multi-value may make business sense.
