Most interesting question in DIY this year?

Erin did another shootout ... at 16:04 he shows the quite promising isobars of the MoFi 8 which has a coax driver similar to the SB 8 inch MW19 Satori :

Question is if the SB coax can match the performance or do even better?

So I thought whoever plans to use this new coax in the nearer future - here is your challenge to shine 🙂

And we have the old question asking us can such a modern 2way coax speaker compete against 3way designs?

The simplicity , elegance and stability (no broken electronics) plus low price are strong factors when planning on a new speaker with elevated budget!

Plus the real looks!

regards , me myself & I 🙂

Which doesn't alter the fact that equalisation will not, in fact, 'fix any oddities'. Your words, not mine. 😉 And they have nothing to do with 'learn[ing] to make compromises'. Equalisation can do many things, but it isn't a solution to every issue in audio. What you said was wrong, simple as. Learn to accept it (since we all make mistakes every now and then) and 'have a happy life!' 😉

A fancy motor, basket and papyrus cone do not solve the more fundamental problem of an incorrect tweeter-waveguide (cone) interface and improper termination of the waveguide.
But we have already been through all that in one of the other coax threads.

The tweeter response isn't all that bad. The real challenge will be the 3.5khz breakup of the woofer forcing a low crossover point and the high Fs of the tweeter making that problematic. Fs compensation will be a requirement for this speaker I think. Would have been a good opportunity to use "metamaterial" Helmholtz array to tame that tweeter Fs.
