Most excellent 2 way kit?

Hi all. I am looking for recommendations for a 2 way kit/well documented project that fulfills a few requirements. They are:

1. Goes low enough to cross over to 12" sealed sub (40Hz or so)
2. Costs under $800 without cabinets
3. Some assurance that resulting quality and value is high.
4. I will make my own boxes.

I have several preferences as well:

1. I would like something with a ribbon tweeter that is well integrated with woofer
2. Something that really 'disappears'. Would like to try magnesium woofers if possible, but any really uncolored woofer will do.
3. I would prefer it if I could buy a premade-crossover network
4. Nothing too tiny - I am not sure a 4" driver really has enough impact. 5-7" woofer seems the most likely.

Right now I am considering the Jantzen 2 way kit (too expensive, however), the madisound fountek kit (great price), and some of the zalytron raven kits (seem like a good option). I like the look of the zaph zd5 but I think the crossover is a bit too complex for me. The zaph sr71 seems like another good option if I can find someone who can vouch for its transparency.

If anyone out there knows of any other kits that either have ribbon tweeters or otherwise really good transient response, let me know.

If it matters, I will be using an SS amp, although I may replace that with c.40W tube amp or maybe a hypex kit. I plan on making two 12" powered, sealed subwoofers for the 20-80hz region.

Right now I have a pair of ProAc clones, which I enjoy but find hard to really listen INTO. I think the midrange is a little compromised by the bass extension, which is wonderful of course.
