MosFET in driver tube cathode?

Something I've been thinking about today, and I wonder if I can get away with this.

I saw the schematic for the clone vt60, and in the output tube cathodes, there's 5r6 with a 100r trimmer across it, this gives a little adjustment room to make up for slight tube mismatches, right? Is this a good idea? Bad idea?
