Mr Mile, can this schematic (headphone amp) be also used as a pre-amp
for your A40 amp?
I'm planning to build a preamp AND headphone amp in one encolsure.
I guess they are similar enough to only do ONE circuit that can do both.
Alternatively, is there a way to change your P30 preamp, so it can also drive headphones??
Terry's enthusiastic recomendation of P30 + A40 made me thinking
about it..
SR PP12 is preamp and can be use as headphone amp. You can use it for A40 or any other amp.

a) PP11
b) PP12
c) P30
would you recommend as a pre-amp ?
My power amp needs input of 7Vpp before clipping.
Can PP11 or P30 be also used as a headphone amp? E.g. by adding a buffer to drive headphones (e.g. BUF634 chip?), or by changing output transistors and emiter resistors?

PP11, PP12 can be use as headphone amp or preamp. PP11 is CFA and PP12 is VFA topology.
P30 can be use only as preamp, if you want CFA headphone amp PP11 is the best.
P30 as headphone amp will be A33 or A40 with single output pair and 4R7
emiter resistors.
7Vpp is not problem, any preamp can give this output level without clip.
