MOREL 166mk2 TL OR REFLEX

moreleurope.com is out with an inprovement on the 166 TL. This uses the mdt33 tweeter and the 166/164 mid woofer in a TRANSMISION LINE. I find the design too tall and TL`s are too difficult for me. I intend to do either a bassreflex or a sealed TOWER using the same drivers and XOVER. Is this possible and sensible? I have not mastered WinSID YET. Any help.

This Morel can be used with SEALED BOX.

And A driver I can use for sealed, with reasonable result,
I would Seal.
The driver responds faster to signals. Transients.
And if you can't tune a bas relflex box proper,
it is not to recommend.

I select my QTC somewhere 0.55 - 0.71, for my sealed boxes.

Ideal for a TL too,
you trade a bigger box
for less time smear, and flatter impedance curve. A bit more bass too.

The low pressure box will also be less coloured...
and even more so if you load a pr push-push.

Unless Morel has played with Martin King's or George Augspurger's software i doubt their TL is optimim.

I put a MW164 in a box with a MDT30. All I have to say is "stunning". Only thing I have bad to say is that they are missing everything below about 60 or 70 Hz. Add a sub and thats not really a problem.

I put them in 15L sealed with adequate bracing and lined the walls with acoustical foam.

Since you are a TL man, will you kindly do a Matin King on this driver for me . I am not that advanced yet. (MOREL 166)

I'm sorry, but i haven't the time. You will learn a lot by digging into it yourself.

You should download Martin Kings TL software and play around. You will learn alot. Also read my site, Martin's site http://www.quarterwave.com, Bob Brine's site http://geocities.com/rbrines1/.
