"There is a common misconception among consumers that wood or MDF mouldings shrink. With our many years of experience, we learned that all MDF mouldings do shrink on a minimal basis. Every 16 feet of moulding shrinks about 1/16", after all it is made from wood which contains moisture. The shrinkage factor is much greater for mouldings that are stored outside in the winter or in humid conditions. If you do buy your mouldings from a lumber yard that stores MDF outside, we recommend that you should acclimatize your trim inside for at least 24 hours."
I think its going to rain.
Might wanna take a look at how sonus faber does it, I think your on your way.

SF bend triplex around a frame.. And while MDF shrinks only moderately in the plane, it's the thickness that varies enormously with humidity. Make no mistake, even first grade birch plywood shrinks about 5% from cold but dry storage yard to warm and dry living.

That.s why it's important to seal it right away, before you do anything else.
How many cut lists end up waiting in the literal rafters?
What could possibly go wrong?
Nice hot dry garage in the summer, cold damp in the winter.
I worked in a factory that made mdf, it's not my first choice in building anything.
We referred to it as "glue and some air.

Hello, I do not understand what the problem you have with mdf, speakers not going to get into the pool or going to be outdoors, they will be in a room where the humidity is not going to affect them, I have had structures mdf speaker for 10 years and I've never had the slightest problem. I still do not know what is the problem you have with mdf

I don't have problems with MDF used this way, but I know of several fellow builders who had, here in Holland. To me, trouble always rises from construction faults, i.e. MDF not giving the space to shrink some 10% (or more). It's OK as long as nothing gets in the way of the moving panels, therefore such enclosures need clever constructions with regard to bracings and mounting of speaker units (or baffles at a right angle to the layered panels). And that is what my warnings are about (this was the last 😉 ).

hi johhanson,

last year you have sold a nice pair of 18h52 and millenium tweeter...

Can I ask you why you had left the old project? and because again now you've taken a similar project (but with a different tweeter)?

You did not like the previous coupled (c-quenze-Millenium)?

tanks in advice

hello, millenium tweeter did not get to try it since I came like a good deal to buy the Grate 140-15D and sold as new, you can not talk like that tweeter sounds, I've been doing different combinations of speakers but eventually I stayed with what best I came to my room.
regards
