i'm about to do a monitor dismantle but what are people mounting this on and does it need to be grounded. if someone could post pictures or direct me to where i missed some that would be appreciated. i think i'm headed the nec 1545v route it seems to be easy and good. thanks,

I would ground it. Actually, I did. It will work w/o it, but these things are fragile and there's no reason not to.
As far as mounting it, I would suggest mounting it so that it's touching glass. This will help keep it cool, cause this thing does not like to get hot.
