The concern is to get a reasonable match in the two halves of the crossover taking account of the acoustic roll-offs.

It doesn't really matter if the gear is amateur, semi or pro
stuff, it just needs to be working properly.
You need a working setup made of sound card, software, mic,
phantom power supply, amplifier, maybe even mic preamp,
necessary wires to connect it all and record impulse response
of your XO filters, speakers, amp and all that needs to be in
the chain at the same time.
Do it separately for bass driver installed in box with XO and
everything and do it near field to avoid room issues. Leave
the mic on the same spot and do the same for the other half.
After you actually see this on display, you should be able to ajust
acoustic slopes until you get it right or the way you think it should
be.
