Modifications and recommended upgrades to Altec Lansing MX5021 Speakers

Hi All,
I've enjoyed my Altec Lansings for 4-5 years now, but have always been bothered by its mid range response. The sub and tweeters do a great job, but the mids are always recessed. I've been tackling this so far with the EQ settings on the music player (I use Foobar), but it seems more of a band-aid approach, and the results are not very satisfying.
I'm wondering if this can be changed by doing some upgrades.
Pls advise on what should I upgrade to make them sound more neutral.

Rgds,
HDman 🙂

Thanks for the reply.
I've gone through this blog already, and it does not seem like the DIYer put up any circuits and or measurements, so it does not seem very convincing to me.
The sound improvement he feels can as well be subjective, so opening up the sub does not seem a good idea based on the quality of information.

Anyways the circuit quality of the Altecs is not very DIY friendly, so I don't think any changes should be made apart from the Op Amps.
