I'm staying out of this one........

At least for an hour or so. Let someone else do the kvetching for a change.

BTW.......if Phred's account is disabled, and you don't want him around........

Then why do the moderators give out his e-mail address?????

Hmmmmmmm??????????? Enquiring minds want to know.

The state of the art

Seems to me very much like a censor’s panic reaction.

It doesn't seam, it IS.

It is Off Topic because, well, it's off topic.

... and this says it all.

I've posted this and nobody cared, you can see what happened on the Chip Amp forum on the last few days.
Nothing.
Just Per-Anders giving the same advices that we did a long time ago, and long hours without posts.
I've seen as long as 5 hours whithout a single post.
With members from all over the world, is this normal? I don't think so.
I've lately seen valuable members going away and progressively the members that ask for advice are not getting answers or getting absurd answers (see below).

From what was my position on Pedja's thread, here is an example of the state of the art:

Please read this thread, it's only one page.
Post #4 beats all the records.
Of course this member sells LM4780 PCBs, haven't you guys figured that out?:clown:

It's pretty much a group effort, though there are certainly mods who spend more time in some places than others. Do you want a list of current moderators?

On other fora, some categories are modded by specific people. I know that is not the case here, but it would be nice to know who best to make suggestions or complaints to. I suppose a list would work if the mod also listed their favourite categories. It's more about not having something go from one mod to another unless necessary, creating delays in response. I get the feeling that some mods do more of the website work as opposed to be actually moderating the discussions. It would be good to know who does that so any functional errors can be reported (and solved) quickly.

Really, I was just thinking about the time that mods spend and how to minimize the amount of stuff that mods have to wade through by giving members a direct line for specific issues.

🙂ensen.

why are those moderators moderators?

a) for altruistic reasons? no, they do not behave like altruists. More like a miliz.

b) for greed for power over other members? this would be some kind of abuse also. no better. Maybe true for moderators with some Ego problems.

c) for commercial interests. Most likely, if i look at some of them.

d) any suggestions???

Not that i know of... procedure is to forward any mail requesting contact with a member to that member... ie the member gets an email from a mod with the request of the other member so that an email is ony revealed if the requested member chooses to reply.

Before Jocko asked his last question I was going to ask you all: How many of you have sent Fred a message and asked him yourself. Fred said that we could forward any messages if people wanted to come in contact with him. With Google Fred isn't very hard to find without our help but even so, nobody has cared to get in touch with him.

I have never got a forwarding request. I'm also amazed that not even his friends have contacted him. Jocko, have you? till, Jam, Elso, have you? You scream that they (the skilled) are scared away but you don't care about the person Fred. Does anybody know why his account is disabled?

All moderators have his email.

Re: Re: The state of the art

First:
Personally I am very happy with the moderators and I am quite impressed by the way they take this huge task on the way they do. I, for sure, would not do half as good a job as any one of them not to mention that I would not find the time. Why some people are bashing these guys is way beyond my intelligence (which of course could be the actual problem in my case, but still).

Secondly:
What's wrong with post #4 in:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46430
The user has been very reluctant and hard to talk into selling his PCBs as it seems to me. Any commercial interest in his mind for those PCBs seems to have been created by others not him.

I do admit lacking some characteristics:
1. I'm not paranoid
2. I don't fear Big Brother
3. I don't see a problem where there is none
