I agree with that. That's why I created this thrad.
Till, till said:But i did not knew you are an old capitalist, could you please send me a small fraction of your millions of dollars over to old europe? you know, i´m a little short of this stuff, and some of those millions would help me to get a better capitalist.
Jocko is not a very good capitalist.
Till,
Jocko is not a very good capitalist.
damned, i did suspect something like that. Are you any better?
I was a good capitalist........
Until some carpet-bagging Canadian thief came South.....bought the company that I worked for......and made my retirement plan worthless.
Good capitalist that I am....seeing the handwriting on the wall......
I put in for distribution........as I was eligible for.........
Carpet-bagging thief saw fit not to give it to me. No good reason, other than he knew I was fixin' to sell it. (Yep, I am a capitalist.)
Now, I am just as broke as all the guys in Europe that I poke fun at for for being anti-capitalist.
Back to the subject at hand:
Those of us who do have commercial interests had them long before DIY ever existed. We are not here to make $$$$ off of you guys. We are here to share our knowledge, and in my case, occasionally some of the surplus stuff that I am sitting on.
Then there are people who come here........coax info out of the members.......sort of "on-line DIY R&D", without having to pay for R&D. And then try to start an audio comapny, selling back to the members, at seemingly ridiculous high prices, all the stuff that they contributed.
Yeah.....I can think of more than one person who does that.
One may even be a moderator.
Oh, no......wait........make that 2.

Nortel? More like one of those standard issue international corporate thiefs... i believe the US has more than their fair share of those (and Italy turned out a big one recently)

Put on my
captain hat...
We are working on a useful, and unobtrusive way of allowing commercial interests to make commercial posts on the forum. There are a few reasons for this...
1/ it would be a service to the community
2/ the pressure to to so because of the evolution of the forum is getting tremendous
3/ diyAudio is now in the position of having to be self-supporting financially and this will be a money raiser.
Now despite the pressure to implement this (and one can see bits of it uncontained splilling over the sides of the "container we are trying to keep it in") because of the interim sponsorship arrangement that was set up (when the lights came a lot closer to be turned off than many know) we cannot move on this until the interim has expired. {advert: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26413 -- our sincere appreciation of brainchild for his support} This has given us some breathing room to think schemes thru, and get our ducks in line.
At the same time, even thou only mentioned obtously, the beg-a-thon has been preoceeding with some serious donations to build up diyAudio's financial position (i thank all who have contributed -- it is much appreciated). The beg-a-thon will go mainstream sometime in the next while.
If anyone else would like to jump the gun, https://www.paypal.com/xclick/busin...ons via PayPal can be made by using this link
And to further complicate things, membership of diyAudio is exploding, so expect to see more moderators (we have a batch in training now, and will be recruiting more).
As to what moderators do -- we are mostly janitors, cleaning up food fights, spills, & broken glass. Straightening things out, and trying to keep things a bit more orderely (really an impossible task). As well, being hand picked (sorta) by the benevolant dictator that has final say in anything here, we act in an advisory role as to policy, direction etc... and on anything of great import we always solicate the feelings and advice f the membership (hence threads like this)

Nice signature P-A.
Usually I´m really able to ignore things but that´s the pits.
Very exemplary.

You too could have worked for Rochester Telephone which was taken over by the scumbunnies from Global Crossing -- their 401K was traded in for GX "wampum" which turned out to be worthless baubles and beads. Can you imagine being a lineman or manhole cover flipper for 35 years and being told that your $300K nestegg is worthless?Jocko Homo said:I was a good capitalist........

The guy who lead GX was kicked out of the junk bond business about 15 years ago, but as they say, something always manages to float to the top of the pottie.
I'm curious, who moderates what?
If there is a list, I couldn't find it with my usual search techniques. If it's really easy to find, then my bad.
🙂ensen.

It's pretty much a group effort, though there are certainly mods who spend more time in some places than others. Do you want a list of current moderators?

How many times I have to tell you that do not take any picture of me, especially while I am busy!😡

Disappearing Post!
Hi,
Late yesterday night I received the familiar forum message that DIYAudio forum member MalichiConstant had responded to my post. So this morning I clicked on the link in the email message but I did not find any post by MalichiConstant in the thread! This is spooky!
Where is his post?😕 😕 😕
I did not find it in "Texas" either.
What is going on here?

What is going on here?
I have also subscribed to this thread and got the same notification email. I looked up immediately (I`m always curious when Mister F.D. has something to say🙂 ) but the post was already gone.
Maybe he has decided to erase his own post (but don`t know if this is possible afterwards).
Moderators!
What is going on with these missing posts.................are we up to selective moderation again................or someone got a personal vendetta against Fred ...........and as usual are you going to claim that you are unaware of this.
This stinks!

Thanks for the response Hugo.

I’ve seen people being put into the Sin Bin, I’ve seen threads being moved to the Off Topic desert, I’ve seen also threads being closed, but I can’t remember I’ve ever seen all this has happened at once. Looking at the thread, I see people speaking about the topic, doing that with great interest and, despite of the immense quantity of posts and nature of the topic, doing that quite civilized way.
Seems to me very much like a censor’s panic reaction.
Anyway, I guess something important has happened. Something that hasn’t happened before.
What was that? Why was I put in the Sin Bin? SY, do the moderators check the content of the threads to close them if they think there is nothing new inside (amazingly, majority of threads are exactly such threads and apparently none closes them)? Why did moderators completely ignore my complaints and my efforts to remind them on this all the time I’ve been sending this offline, but after I raised the issue publicly and topic generated massive interest, they call to offline discussion? What did happen with this place? Gone to hell?
