No, Tim...this is something that started a long, long time ago...way before you joined as a member.

At least I got the goat, or did I? 😉

Nothing gained nothing ventured here, I'm afraid...

By which I mean that I've made every thinkable effort to make Joel blend in with the rest of us no matter what his technical convictions were...silly me.

This is what I was referring to actually. There is a very strange desire for all the members of diyAudio to believe the same exact things about audio, design, listening, testing, etc. Those that don't agree with the vaguely majority opinion are confronted. Those that disagree strongly (me) are confronted strongly.

If you think I'm just being crazy and you want proof, read any of the "sound of capacitors" threads. Many others exist as well.

Now, these discussions have in the past gotten quite heated, granted - but it's the way that those arguments were handled by the moderators at the time that further set the tone here by subtlely condoning the outbursts. Fast forward a year - after dozens or more of the strong arguments, one can get labled as a trouble maker in the forum (never mind the hundreds - thousands? - of benign posts). Again, it's clear that there are two camps, and the "trouble makers" are not in the correct camp! From there its only a short leap to the sinbin, "because of your history of arguing", etc. Many other members could be saying equally "disruptive" things, or worse, daily - but they are firmly part of the accepted establishment here, and their not-so-nice postings are... overlooked, shall we say?

Sy is right, it's a group dynamic repeated time and time again. Wake up.

For the record, though I have opinions that diverge strongly from those of many others here, I have been treated with courtesy and respect 99% of the time by the other members- not a bad batting average. My email exchanges with members that agree and disagree with me has been 100% amiable and often quite fun.

Despite saying some controversial things, I've never had a post lifted nor been asked to change anything I've written. For this, I salute the community and most especially its mods.

Now if I can only get the software to stop censoring the word *****, when I use it to mean making a small hole in a membrane...

A lot of good stuff in that article. Thanks for posting it, SY. 🙂 I think that items 2 and 3 under the "Things to Accept" are particularly of interest on this board given that many of the "Old Hats" are the ones getting slapped around and punished for attempting to maintain an acceptable social structure.

This is the situation:

At one point you complained that your posts were deleted, well you thought they were.

Now that your posts are moderated it seems to happen that I already replied to your crap before a mod removes it. And crap it was.

All this leads to another member thinking I'm being to hard on you etc.,etc,.

You made that same post in the "Tube" section as you did here but still you go on as if you're Virgin Mary herself ?

All along you have the nerve to accuse people who have nothing but the best intentions for you and the forum?

I'm truly impressed about the way you seem to fool most but it just doesn't stick with me...

Technically your just a kid who has no clue what's beyond the books and I even don't mind that...if only you'd be willing to read and learn from fellow members, or even just accept a different opinion....you never do.

I still have to find a single instance where you read a post correctly though...

Sorry, Tim.

Both posts were identical in content and were about Joel complaining once more about him/his posts being moderated.
They appeared almost simultaneously in this thread and in one of the threads in the "Tubes" section.

While I doubt he'd actually admit it, at least someone else must have noticed something?

It may well be he deleted them himself in which case I surely owe Planet 10 an apology and should have stopped when he asked for it.

Anyway, let's just see how things develop...😉
