hello, im new to electro diy so forgive me any silly things i may say
i have an aphex 204 exciter - and whilst being a very good unit - the high pass filter doesnt go low enough for my liking
would it be as simple as replacing the pot on the front to enable it to go lower or would there be something else inside that is stopping the filter going down further than 600hz?
i dont have the schematics, would you need me to open it up and take a photo to help?
like i said im still learnng the actual practicalities of diy, please try to explain in laymens terms
many many thanks,
russell🙂

Hi,
Without the schematic you are stumbling blind.
Reducing the potentiometer may work, but probably
you should lower some capacitor values in the circuit.

Increeeeeeease !!!!!! Incrrrrrrreeeeeeease !!!!!! You must increeeease the cap values in order to go lower.
With some searching you might even find the highpass filter caps even without schematic. On my old exciter there was a double pot for the tuning of the HPF so I'd expect that they used a Sallen-Key 2nd order HPF.

Hi,
ooooooooooooooooooops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes of course you should, I was thinking of lowering capacitor impedance.

what do you think the chances are that ill ruin it?
i wll ground myself and i can solder really well - what other stuff should i look out for before i open her up?
it has to be done
thanks
