thanks ergo,

but this has raised further questions.

The site you posted lists:

VAM1201 £30.00
PH CD MECHANISM KIT 'ORIG.'
-------------------------------------
VAM1202 £14.00
LASER UNIT
-------------------------------------

I beleve the original fitment is the Vam1201 @£30

Will the Vam1202 @14 be ok??????

I guess the safest way is to ask them.

I studied the philips lasers over there a little time ago also as one of my friends needs one. I remember with the help of google I could find aout what versions they have. They sell only the laser with guide rails, then the "center part" of the mechanism + laser and then even the full transport with everything.... Figuring out what is what is a bit foggy. One indicator of how much is included is price 🙂

Ergo,

I had gathered that different levels of assembly are available but for just the laser I can only find the vam1202 listed. Rephrase my badly worded question: does anyone happen to know if the vam1202 laser will fit the vam1201 carrier?

If not I will do as you pointed out: I guess the safest way is to ask them.

Thanks for the link ergo they got the laser to me in 16 hours (royal mail must have been having an easy day).

For those of you like I, that didn’t know the difference between these lasers they supplied a vam1202 and the box lists the CDM12.1, VAM-1201 and VAM-1202, It was explained to me that the 1202 is the newest generation of this generic range.

These are blue and marked "101J 100" in the OSE.
In the KI they are green, smaller, and marked "Audio 101J N" in the KI

All these caps are ELNA polypropylene.
I know that because I have several generations of Sansui amps, they always used only Elna caps through whole PCB

They use the same in my standard CD6000 - and also some of the silmics and elnas... i guess when they are running out of parts they have used what was available.

The biggest difference is the chassis, this is mild steel with some "whatever" finish but no copper finish. The loader is fixed on the chassis, the VAM1202 is isolated with four pieces of plastic/rubber(?). The transformer is a standard EI type but no O-Core.

I will try some mods soon.

cheers
Michael

I also begun modding my CD6000 OSE (have 2 of them here).

My first mod was to remove the output caps with BG NX 100 uF at 6.3 Volts. I can hear a difference after ca. 24 hours "drive in".

I can compare it to the unmoddifiyed CD6000OSE LE and the sound is clearer and more compact; the unmodifyed gives the impression of washed out compared to the modifyed.

My next step will be to install a Kwack-Clock and compare it again (before clock install i am going to compare them with a better loudspeaker pair (with ESS Air Motion Transformes).

Hi,

today i changed the Diodes 6111-6120 and 6123 and 6125 to 11DQ10

by re assembling i wanted to check if all cables was on and i turned it on without the Laser connected. Since then i become always ERROR 11 (Slegde Error). I testet the lader on a second CD6000 i have and it works.

What is wrong? Can i repair it?

Thanks
