Modding a NEC PJ

I have a NEC VT470 with the light bulb gone. I was thinking of using the techniques described on this forum to use a outside light source instead of buying a new one for $299.
But the first problem, like everyone else, is tricking the projector to believe there is a ligth bulb.
Does anyone know how it senses the light is ON ? There are only 3 wires to the lamp itself (power and gnd). So it must be sensing the light or heat.
There is a IC called 67L120P right above the lamp housing as you can see in the picture. Would shorting this do it ?

Thanks in Advance

I finally tested shorting some points which I thought could be the sensors. It turned they are all heat sensors. One is a detector for the lamp door.
Is it possible its sensing the current flow to detect if the bulb lighted up ?

Thanks

I have an old Sharp XG-H400U. I need a bulb to replace the old one. The bulb housing has model number BQC-XVH30U1. Could you find out what watt bulb I would need? I believe I need the JYs-SE for alternating current. Any help here would be much appreciated.

Also, I am curious to know if you are connected to www.diypro.us or are they competitors?
