According to post #1, the DEEM line works with TTL levels, so a CD4011 would be a bad choice. The high level could be as low as 2.4 V while a CD4011 on 5 V requires 3.5 V.
I put a 10k resistor between DEEM and base of transistor. That resistor will limit the current drawn. I think it's working well. I made the mod into a faulty cd player just for testing.
@IcsaszarI think there are only a few CD's on the market with deemphasis. I don't know anything about new releases with deemphasis,... I'll investigate about it.
Anyway, I have 4 or 5 CD's in my collection with deemphasis. I always try to buy first editions on CD, and coincidentally many of them usually come with preemphasis.

I suppose it is not marked anywhere on the box? BTW what is the rationale behind preemphasis in CD? They are noiseless anyway, aren't they?
To my knowledge it's a thing of the distant past.are there many CDs with deemphasis? New releases also?

Mod finished. I made a new hole in the panel to place the led.
First disc has no emphasis. Second does:

Now the only fault is the display. I need to talk with bram 😅😅
