I've tried that particular combo and it's not a particularly good match. The Karat Ruby seems to be happier in arms with higher mass and rigidity.
Thank you for your reply.
So you can tell me please which cartridge mm or mc is best with
the lp12 and grace (other than grace f9 or supex- not avaliable)
maybe at?
Please describe "not a good match"-in sound quality-what missing?

The arm/cartridge bass resonance was too high and there were a lot of midrange colorations from the cartridge dumping energy back into the not-so-rigid arm. My favorite matches with that arm were the Shure V15, Technics EPC205C3, and Grado G1+, but they're all discontinued- this was 20-25 years ago.
I don't think it's a matter of mm vs. mc, it's finding a moderately high compliance cartridge that doesn't need the arm to absorb much vibration. I haven't tried the Audio-Technica 150MLX yet, but on paper, it looks like a good candidate (it's MM). The Ortofon MCs also might be suitable- one of my friends uses one (a Rohmann) in a relatively light unipivot arm and is very happy with it.

Thanks,
You know that the grace f9e and supex sd 900 have 12cu compliance--it's medium to low compliance and both were a very good and musical match to the grace! (indeed both have a low
mass--around 5-5.3g)
