I just noticed a pr of Martin Logan "Claritys" at Best Buy of all places.

Not good at all in my opinion. But then again, I guess they will be able to honor the warranty better than the "Lifetime warranty" of my Acoustats.
Gotta eat somehow...

This is probably Magnolia's HiFi that has been put in quite a few of the BB chain stores.
The kind of customer that typically goes to BB is probably scratching their heads on the pricing (not interested)
While I love high end (Have SL-3's and orginal Quads myself) the BB\Magnloia marriage near me doesn't carry any of the big electrostat's or other high end stuff that the offsite seperate Mag store has.
I seriously doubt over time this experiment will work... I wish them well, but wouldn't be buying any stock on it
Regards
David

I personally disagree - this is the best thing to happen to DIY ESL builders in a long time.
After all, ESLs are fragile, people are stupid, and power supplies are much less expensive when you rip them out of broken equipment.
"Impedance: 6 ohms, 1.1 at 20kHz"
Good luck hooking that up to a $300 Sony/Yamaha/Pioneer receiver.

You may be right! We might start seeing MLs out by the curb in the future.
Did I read they used an "air core" matching transformer?
