MJE15032/33 Genuine or Fake??

I can see it's been a while since anyone has post here but I recently bought some MJE's from an Ebay shop in china and when testing the Amp (Apex B500) 1 channel blew the MJE's the first time I pushed up the input using a signal generator at 1k Hz into a dummy 8 ohm load. The other channel overheated a 600 ohm resistor in the drive circuit and it went up in flames.
Could they be fakes and could they cause that sort of fault/fire.

Thanks for the reply.
I was starting to think that might be the case. My local RS Components have them listed at about $2.50 each so I will order some and swap them.
I'm now worried about the 2SC5200/2SA1943 which also came from a Chinese Ebay shop.

At the price these power transistors and drivers are at reputable dealers, it is just not worth the Russian roulette of buying them at cheap prices on the grey market. Too often "grey" proves to be a few too many shades t0he wrong colour.

I ended up ordering a new set of all the transistors in the amp from Element14 and the price wasn't to bad, 26 in total for $90 delivered.
The new MJE15033/2's look quite a bit different to questionable one, the new don't have the notches either side of the top plate and they just look cleaner. Hoping for a better result this time.
