MJ head-amp- how does it sound?

Fellas, i have searched, i really have, but i'm not good at using terms.
So, if this has been discussed before, please, let me know.

I am thinking about building a MJ type head-amp, as seen on headwize.
But i found this little one:
http://www.valvediy.com/6gm8amppg1.html (i advise saving the pdf, it's hard to get these deactivated url's nowadays).

What's your opinion?
The ECC86 one seems good for a battery project, which could be run (recharged) on renewable energies:umbrella:, now the price of fossil fuels is escalating :2c:

Compared to the cost of running a loudspeaker amplifier, a headphone amplifier's power consumption is inconsequential. Unless you really need to run on batteries, go for a higher voltage version and benefit from lower distortion and more stable operating points. There are lots of variations on this circuit available at HeadWize.
