Hello! I just acquired an empty 2x12" bass cab. It was born as a 2x12"+crappy piezo tweeter. It's split in 2 internally, vented on the front. Probaboy something like 60-70lt each chamber.
I'd want to put new speakers in it but without spending a ton of money.
I was considering to mix speakers from the same "family"... these two:

In pure theory I shouldn't need a tweeter if I use the TC, so would save money and troubles with the crossover.
I could go for two TCs but I'm a bit worried about their capacity in the lows department (even if I like clear, full_range sound it's always a bass cab after all!).
Any thought? I guess the phase could be a nightmare mixing speakers but they're not too different, maybe I could be lucky.

I would not mix LF and TC...why not to use two LF and go for one crappy piezo, they are cheap, and crossover is no trouble, its just one capacitor.
Having two TC may be problematic, each individualy beam much more than tweeter, having two may cause some interfernces.

Thanks for your reply... maybe I should go for a 12 200 and the TC? They should be almost the same.
They're not on the same orizzontal axis:

I think putting a piezo on top of a 12 is pretty bad... there's a huge hole in the response, expecially off-axis. Basically you have "boom" and "hiss" but not "honk" 😀
This is the 12 200... the LT and TC versions should be evolutions of this woofer:

agreed, having just a woofer like LF and piezo is a bad practice
putting piezo on top of TC, especially if the piezo is crossed high, should be ok
so maybe one 12 200, with one TC, and the piezo on top would be best

I THINK I could live without the tweeter if the TC is bright enough.
On my other cabs I have a wonderful CIARE PT383 soft dome tweeter but commercial stuff with very metallic sound is too harsh for me, unless there's a mid (and this obviously mean the tweeter is cut pretty high).
I made a cab with the 12 200 a few years ago... reflex, tuned low.
Can't say it sounded "superb" but was pretty loud for the size and price.
