Mission Argonaut Mk2 Upgrade

I purchased these outstanding 780's new in 1/86 and always have been satisfied (even surprised at times) by their phenomenal value. Lately, I came upon some posts here and elsewhere about upgrading components on the crossovers to update/upgrade the sound. Although I have much experience as an electrical technician in component troubleshooting and replacement, I'm no speaker specialist like most of you here. The question: what components (other than the capacitors and anything out of bench tested specs) are replaced in an upgrade situation? I'm thinking Kimber Kaps through Parts Express would fit the bill, BTW. Thanks to all in advance. 🙂

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Do they sound good? If degradation of the caps then substitute. Many times they were measured to-fit (or you can buy matched pairs). You will never know. One good approach for big changes it's just making a new crossover and test/compare with the original (you will not be in trouble). Small upgrades can be just at the tweeter level, changing a cap or two with big improvements with good film caps like the ones you mention.

Then I broke it... 😀

So, perhaps just upgrade to KK 4.7uF caps first as a start. Then listen. If improved, do other set and see. Small adjustments can sometimes yield big changes, that is my hope w/this project. Thanks Inductor. Open to any other inputs ...
