I just bought a capacitor and it said it came with a 27 ohm resistor bulb, but it didn't, anything I can get at the local hardware store or radio shack that would be sufficient enough to charge it?
That post doesn't make much sense. What is the capacitor? (value, voltage rating, dielectric, construction, brand, part number). What is a "resistor bulb" ???
It is a Bullz Audio 4400 watt (4.4 Farad), 20 VDC, 20 VDC Surge Capacitor, I don't know what a resistor bulb is, but it said it came with one to use in charging the cap for safety, but it didn't, so how can I charge it safely?
The resistance of the lamp changes as it heats -- so it's a current limiter -- take a look at the "Burning Amp" threads to see how a lamp may be used as a current source. You can use another incandescent lamp, or you can use an LM317 in current source mode.
it sounds like a car audio cap.
you can use a normal 12V domelight bulb to charge/discharge the cap.
