What do you think about this speaker? It is like a ProAc 2.5 reduced to 15 litres. Can I use something like this for the rear channels? (The front is a pair of 2.5)

A.O.S makes very good speakers, in a hifi magazine (Hobby Hifi) these speakers are always very good tested. See also their site for references.
But I never heard one 🙂.

Can I simply replace 8535 with 8545 without changing anything in the original design? Or the crossover should be modified because of the slightly different parameters?

No, not really. The woofers have different size magnets and cone construction. You could probably keep the tweeter crossover, but modify the woofer section.
Please read the FAQs in the 2.5 clone website.

33 feet ?
You must know Jack ( from Jack and the bean stalk ). How tall are you ? My neck would break looking up at your speaker.
They look very nice. Now can you scale it down to 33 inches ?
How do they sound compared to the usual box?

sorry for the error
of course it's 33 inches.
Concerning sound, the box is damped with bitum on all sides, and there are two braces, so the sound is very good, at low and high level.

just kidding.
Hi SDF,
I was just kidding. No need to apologise to anyone .. you didn't hurt anyones feelings. It was obvious that the 'feet ' was a typo.
The speaker looks really nice. Is that real veneer on the (MDF?)box ? The colour in the picture is very attractive. How much did you spend on the drivers alone ?
Great job.
Cheers.

500 euros for all drivers
(4), it's expensive but....it's not bad loudspeakers.
The MDF used is just varnished with a paintbrush.
The result is really good, I speak about sound of course, it works very well with my Zenquito.

Do you mean the speakers in the picture in this thread (above) are *just* plain MDF varnished? Looks really good ...
Varnished with paintbrush, two layers, it's a good really simple solution, not expensive and not at all difficult...

That was pretty expensive. Me and my fellow builders bought the drivers from Audio-Components (http://www.audiocomponents.nl/) and they were EUR 230 for all drivers if I am not mistaking. I paid just a little less than EUR 500 for the whole speaker including everything (drivers, filters, wood NC-cut, stainless steel screws, terminals, veneer, damping, bass reflex port, glue and oil).

Thank, I will know for the next time!
That would be most unfortunate. I however would like as few people as possible to be discouraged from building due to high driver cost which it apparently does not have to be.
