MilSpec vs. ALPS Pots

I used to always use ALPs pots in almost everything I built. Then a friend introduced me to Allen-Bradley MilSpec pots. As you an imagine, they are of incredibly sturdy construction and work very well. I have found a new and I think higher standard of pot.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have measured several pot characteristics on both the classic "mil spec" allen bradley carbon pot and alps, bourns TKD and others. The classic carbon pots have pretty high distortion and the Alps and other conductive plastic pots are 20 dB or more lower. other parameters that matter- tracking and contact resistance variation are better with Alps, Bourns and TKD. A silver contact switch with quality resistors will be better still but for really high cost.
As near as I can determine AB is out of the resistor and pot business. everything is old stock.
