Mile Slavkovic C-15 kick bin
Anyone heard of this design or the designer?
Also as a newbie.....is it ok to post a diagram of someone else’s work if it was already made public from the designer himself?

Name should be "Mile", not "Miles" and surname "Slavkovic (Slavković)", not "Slavkovik".
Edit: I have not heard of him, but I am familiar with the Serbian or Croatian names.

You sir are correct!
Sorry for the butcher job.....I will fix immediately.
is it pretty much similar to "this" ? 15" kick bin | New Line Forum
What's its range ? Is it bigger than a bread box?

This.....https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=756035&stc=1&d=1557607697
Gonna use two as bottoms with eminence lab 15 subs.
Keeping the basic design intact and changing a couple dimensions a couple inches bigger for a little more volume (3.8 cf) and making the port length 18”
20”W x 1.5”H
Modeling Gives decent results either sealed, vented, or a periodic......leaves final application open for interpretation once in room.
Intent is for a mid bass unit (stereo configuration)from the 40-? Hz range (anywhere between 60 on up to a possible 250) where it will cross to my 10” mtm’s.
I’ve been told by some it’s a useless design but I remember seeing something similar years ago and the clean ‘punch’ caught my attention.
Any thoughts.

its certainly a nice size - might you post its hornresp? A Klipsch LB76 vented might be close - IIRC it only has about 44 liters of back chamber to vent.

the planar-paraflex approach seems popular these days - somewhat bulkier than the little C15. 5/8" Baltic birch with a few strategic braces should be sturdy enough for the kickbin below. The info and folks to contact for ideas and help are "The High Order Quarter Wave Society" at High Order Quarterwave Society (DIY Bass A-Z) Public Group | Facebook
Here's a sim I did for Paul Klipsch's LB78 with its back chamber vented vs a somewhat larger planar type. Getting
enough vent area might be a problem with stock LB76 dimensions (?)

Thanks Freddi,
I don’t have hornresp just a ‘speaker box lite’ app which I just figured out did not save any of my data (what do I expect for free....right!) i’ll run it again and see if I cant link it directly.
I like the looks of the planar-paraflex its interesting....I’ll look into it.
Did you build the karlson speakers in your avatar? I’ve always wanted to do a set of those.

That is some weird, wild stuff!
What.....Common courtesy? lol
(can't see my avatar but assuming a "klam" = yes - built one 18" from one 4x8 sheet) A regular Karlson such as the original K15 designed in 1951 should make a reasonably good kickbin. Outdoors, I'd be afraid of it catching rain. For higher tuned cabinets (K15 ~46Hz or so), CUBO's Kick 15 should be nice. The little (27" x 20.5" x 13.5") Karlson - Acoustic Control 115BK is tuned ~53Hz and probably serviceable to 80Hz outdoors.

I thought it was an outdated cultural reference. It must be me that's outdated!

Must have been subliminally planted as I was a big Carson fan back in the day!

I was thinking of a karlson full range coax....maybe eminence stuff for home use.
In fact the kick bins will be for home use also (personal PA bottoms!)
Might put a single 18” under the stairs to give it a odd number of bass source and to get that full 20hz-30hz if I think I need it.....although it will be tied into the TV I don’t really need LFE as it’ll be mostly concert video that will see high volumes.
Thinking the two lab 15’s should satisfy as long as I keep the f3 as low in the 30hz range as I can.

here's a rough guess of a C15 with 2226 - if something needs to be added/corrected to the model, let me know. IF this is a proper description, then its pretty punchy.
ApexAudio's drawing from his post at Speakerplans
btw - here's a prediction of the little Acoustic Control 115BK Karlson vs C-15

FWIW - here's a comparison to CUBO's Kick15 with C-15's vent: stock, shortened to 6cm then shortened to 2.5cm where the impedance graphs pretty much superimpose: - don't know how the offset C15 model would be vs a real measurement.

Thanks for all that Freddi, much appreciated!
Here are exact numbers If you want to plug these in and compare.
The driver is a factory modified eminence lab 15.....specs are a little different than stock, and box dimensions a bit bigger.
Thanks again

Lab15 is a high moving mass driver with relatively high inductance - more like a home theater spec than something which would go in some kick bin.
OOPS - I didn't see your drawing with the long vent - that might not (??) help LAB15 or other drivers - it could flatten response but shelve it below a point.
here's my sims with 13.6cm length vent - I'll re-do things with 46 cm length later on and calculate the "new" chamber volume.

Huh.....well hopefully It straightens out.
I already have the 15’s so kindly stuck in that regard.
Idk if you noticed but the specs for my lab 15’s are a little different from stock also.....guess that won’t help the moving mass though.
May just go sealed if it doesn’t work out, that volume works well sealed......just block it off.
Thanks, bob
