Midrange substitution.

Hi everyone,
I have to replace the midrange of my speakers with a more performing one, with which I am not satisfied but I would like to improve.

Below you will find the dimensions of the current one, the external diameter is 123mm and obviously it can also be 120mm.
The internal diameter 98.2mm could be even more, i have no problem widening it, but it would be better not.

I would prefer that the medium did not have the foam suspension like the scan speak illuminator midranges for example (it's a shame).
Both 4 and 8 ohms are fine

Please recommend me some mediums i could try any brand, or ask me questions if I omitted something, thank you very much!

NE123 would fit.

BTW foam surround makes actually 12MU soundind and performing sooo well. This foam is different material then what was used before, I asked Scan Speak directly, they replied the lifespan is ~20 years, same as rubber surrounds.
yes i know this but i live in a very hot place and foam lifespan is less then usual, also the rubber to me has life most of 20 yeaes.
NE123 i kwon it but i don't like its sound not transparent and not articulate to my taste.

If you want a qualified recommendation you better tell much more where you are today.
  1. What driver are used today?
  2. Since 4 and 8 ohm can be accepted I assume you don't have any crossover that it should fit...
  3. Bass driver?
  4. Tweeter?
  5. Is it a commercial design or DIY?
  6. What frequency range do you expect it to cover?
  7. Necessary sensitivity?
  8. Approx. cabinet volume of midrange?
Regarding the recommendetion of Seas MCA 12RC (I assume 12 RC since there are no MCA 12 RCY).
Was it maybe Seas CA 12RCY that was recommended?

Seas make some nice drivers, but the ones above have aluminum for voice coil former and no copper cap or shorting ring.
I suggest you look for a driver that have a copper cap on the pole peice or at least a shorting ring.
Like SB Acoustics SBMNRX2-25-4.
