Hello,
I have a quick question and while I am sure the answer is buried in the search button I have yet to key in the proper terms to find it so PLEASE forgive me if this has been answered before.
Anyways, I am in the process of building 4 THT's and to compliment them I want to run a larger format WMTMW main set up. Since I've had amazing results with Dayton's RS series so far I was thinking of sticking this line.
I plan on using 2x RS270-8 (sealed) as woofers, 2x RS125-8 (sealed) as mid range, & the PT2C-8 for the top end. This will all my actively crossed via a rackmounted X-over (haven't decided on this component yet) until I can afford a miniDSP 4x10HD.
My question is, is it feasible to place the 2 mid ranges beside the tweeter horizontally to minimize the distance between them? Versus say conventional wmtmw?
Curious to know!

EDIT: to clarify, I'm asking if the midranges can be closely aligned vertically (one above the other) & then place right beside the tweeter?

The issue with your placement is you'll change the dispersion of the midranges to horizontally narrow, while all your other drivers are being arranged to be vertically narrow (sort of). Could you go with a single midrange instead?
Usually you want go go the other way around.
If you calibrate your crossover for a single point and never move your head, no problem...but as soon as you are out of the sweet spot your midrange drivers will behave differently than the rest of the speaker system.
Best,
Erik
