I'm building active speakers where a tube amp will take care of frquencies above 2000 Hz, and a class-D will cover 80 thru 2000 Hz. Below 80 there are a couple of subs.
I'm considering Hypex NCores NC400 and UcD700HG with HxR regulators. Both have enough power, and the NCore has much lower distortion, and is also more expensive. I realize the NCore is the better amp, but wondering if I will be able to hear the difference in my application.
Can anyone tell whether the sound differences are perceivable in the midrange, or more perceivable in the treble? Provided high resolution loudspeakers.
