For his 2-way waveguide speaker, that is the appropriate (and only) place to cross. The design forces him to cross around that region.
We are talking about mids in a 3-way here.
Doesnt matter where you cross...what matters most is to keep phase issues in place, which is also the most difficult part...every time you tweak/adjust fore better sound the phase changes...you may even experience excactly when the sound is best the phase goes completely wacko...a real pain sometimes
