I have a floorstander where the mids and tweeters are tilted backwards. My ears height is exactly at the lower part of the midrange. Would I be screwing things up by straightening the mid/tweeters or even tilting downwards to aim it at the listening position

The tweeter shoots highs above your head and I'll guess this is the reason you'd want to tilt the speaker, get more highs? Just do it! You can test it just by tilting it, see how you like it! 😀
While timing changes it only means relative to the listening axis, the speaker doesn't change, power response stays the same, only the angle of "direct sound" changes and perhaps some change happens in the vertical reflections as well. You'll probably perceive the sound balance change first and foremost instead, and it depends on what the design axis was for the speaker designer and how it is related to your current listening setup. If you are too much off-axis currently the balance can be off. Or, if you tilt it too much you are off again, which only means you could use any tilt you like the best. If you find out you can't get good sound by tilting time to change speakers or resort to EQ 🙂 Probably flat straight up orientation is not optimal I guess, since the designer opted for slanted baffle.
Perhaps ask a friend to assist, and tilt the speaker (mono) while you listen when the balance is right. Or make some simple wedges you can adjust the angle with and test it your self. Or just use weird half sit/stand position and try figure good height/angle without tilting the speaker. Set of polar measurements could tell what angles might work better than others, much work, which you can do if you wana.
