Mid-bass horn 100-1k?

what kind of amplifier will it use? IF I were running 30-300 watts per side I might take a cut in midrange efficiency and go with a little Karlson such as the one produced by like five (?) companies

A 115BK would be 27" tall by 20.5" wide by 13.5" deep without the baffle inset

I have 2 subs as well as alternatively corner (floor-ceiling) line sources (18pcs 4" in each).

I will suspect that a mid-bass horn will be much more potent than both alternatives but it is OK - the capacity of both my options are OK for my room and needs (24 sqm).

For this reason I might get away with some EQ of the mid-bass horn to reach the BW desired without getting into trouble... a couple of dB or 4 maybe? 🙂

depending upon driver impedance, the passive highpass filter can be set to draw more current and give some "boost" at the top end. I think DJK mentioned a 1K2 crossover for his Manta-Ray style setup.

3 way in the horn world can be easier - and simpler than 2-way trying to run a 1" CD low

Look at all the Klipsch La Scala and Belle setups with just a simple crossover. PRV makes an inexpensive (~$80 IIRC - on sale for $70) 2 inch exit compression driver said to be as good or better than a K55V. There's an E--y seller who has a horn popular with that driver.

So why do it of I have the described options... the subs only do 2-300 Hz. The line sources are problematic in the 200-700 - they get to "big" so to say...

The more I get to play with my system the nicer I realize it is.... I have no issues of one source sounding bigger than the other....rather, they integrate as intended...Very well, I might add lol....You have to build using at least some common sense. Keep each source size within context of the other sources it will integrate with! This is what I have done and it has worked with great success.
Your issue could of been easily anticipated :nownow:

What do they say? 5Ps? Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance! I think some would say I over planned but by no coincidence, I have nailed every one of my design goals.

Just off the top of my head, you could also try limiting the drivers in the outskirts of the line to a lower XO...but if you didn't design with that approach in mind....you may not have enough headroom?

For this same reason, with the large woofers I used, and the large horn I intend to use....I have done everything I can think practical to keep ctc as close as possible as well as lowering XO's as low as practical.

"You listen to a system, not individual components." - Maybe this is what lead you astray?....You surely listen to the individual components.....but if the components are not chosen and configured intelligently, you end up with problems like what you have. Once you apply some fore thought and wisdom, the individual components disappear and....appear....as one.

I didn't pick up if you were trying to fix an issue or just improve upon the system... Singular subs + A floor to ceiling line array + a midbass horn>? It doesn't sound like you are aiming for high sound quality... so maybe I am being too critical? If you are just creating like a party speaker and don't care about polar performance or cohesiveness.... then I guess I get it. 🤔

If you remember, in my thread I talked a lot about direct energy.... as you can see...it is a potent thing and if not fully understood, can lead a person who is ignorant to it, to building something with issues like what you have. I also wonder if your situation could be improved with DSP, are you able to time align every driver to the listening position?

I keep thinking what are you going to do with the line array after you build the midbass horn?! It just does not sound like something thats going to work out lol but I guess that really all depends on your expectations?

Sorry camplo, as I see you as a person who creates hes own truths, like "feel facts", I don't at all hold you as a creditable source of knowledge and consequentially I will not take your above input into consideration - at all.

Some times experience is the best teacher I guess....good luck! Also consider it was your own personal judgment that lead you to the predicament that you are in...right now lol! The same judgement that lead you to believe I am "uncreditable".... To continue to do the same things but expect different results.... not good!

I bet you Felt like you were headed in the right direction until you pressed play....Like a monkey, with a canvas, yet no logic or reasoning, as to what to paint

A physical manifestation of a Fresk. Funny how things work out!
