Micro ATX board for htpc, with lga 1151 support

It won't, it doesn't matter what CPU is being used, data processing is carried out using built-in instruction sets.

Right, you feel my present cpu may be okay it is running at 22% in task manager so does not appear to be struggling and htpc is not that intensive a process. The inbuilt graphics it has got may be poor but the cpu itself never overheats, the cpu fan never spins very fast. Sorry just getting conflicting advice, some are saying getting a more modern a cpu or motherboard will make a difference, some not. What is the final consensus is there anything we can agree on.

Your options are dependent on budget.
Buy a good unit second hand...
Or buy a new combination of board, CPU and RAM, the best you can afford.
Mixing and matching old parts does not always work and a new board will be more reliable than an old one, as I hear tales of RoHS solder cracking after 5 years or so.
