hi everyone. this is my first post here and am very happy to have stumbled upon this site! This is great!
What I am working on now is a mic preamp. I originally wanted to build allen wrights RTP3D fully. I talked to him about how i could convert the input for a mic input. Seems like a nice design and simple. Well, in a way....
My question is this, would it be possible to replace the complex tube cathode follower stack to a fet stage, maybe something like the son of zen, pass labs preamp? something simple, and not tube. i want to build at least 6 channels of this and i don't want to spend all of the money on 6dj8s!
So, i would want to cut it right after the output of the first tube stage. any ideas? oh, and of course balanced and low, low output z.
thanks for any help at all!!

I don't see why not. The guys that actually know something about SS circuits will have to chime in with how this might be done.
You might want to cross-post to the SS amps section and get them over here looking at your situation.
