So far, I find MH lamp in three shapes: single ended bulb (big), double ended enclosed, and double ended non-enclosed:

Other than size and the base, what diffirence do they have in term of starting voltage, working voltage, type of ballast, etc.
The reason I ask this is that I can get relatively cheap lamps from China, but the ballast comes with won't work in US. is that possible to subsititue with a ballast that has the same wattage?
Also, anyone knows where I can find the spec for ballasts, like M49, M80, m81, M108, etc.
