Hey Perry I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts here I have a Memphis 16-ST1500D and I was told the irf3205 were not the original power fets they were the 65N06 transistors it has 8 of these is there much difference as far as using the irf3205 vs 65N06 and would there be any gate resistor mods required
Reason I ask Is I was trying to diagnose this thing last night nother reason I didn't get back to the MTX 5400X but the amp originally was getting really hot on the output inductors come to find out all banks in the output fet side was used due to previous owner adding 2 extra 640 fets well the factory only runs 6 9640 and 3 640s leaving one of the output banks on each side of the amp so I removed those and the power supply fets 3205s were giving me problems come to find out there was a short (solder) in between pins 2 and 3 on the 3205s removed the short
I retested the 3205s with cont some 4 were reading infinite ohms and 4 were OL and they were in separate locations no pattern in the order of them example banks left to right #1 #4#5#8 it wasn't like they were in order #1#2#3#4
It just seems like the output inductors are running really hot at idle is why I ask I compared it to a working mcd1500 and they run cool enough to hold your hand on them idling the st-1500 I am having problems with you couldn't touch it for 3 seconds without it being to hot just idling

If the gate resistors are 47 ohms or less, you don't need to replace them.
OL and infinite resistance are the same on most meters.
