To be honest not much difference. In addition to the display,
The older 72320 requires maybe some more external parts.
The new 72323 has .25dB steps, if one needs that. Maybe slightly better specs, on paper at least. And is cheaper.
 
Currently 72320 is a lot cheaper than when I've bought mine. I doubt that I can hear the distortion differences that small.
Anyway, new or old, it's one of the best solutions for remote controlled volume for reasonable amount of money.

This is not true.
Compare the 72320 pricing to 72323 pricing. Not much but still in the excess of 10%.
When I've bought my 72320 it costed more than it costs today, did my english confuse you ?
Anyway, that's good news because the price of everything else in Mouser went up, in some cases sky rocketed not to mention delivery dates for not stocked items are much much longer, for some items you have to wait until next year.
