Meanwell SMPS fan noise?

Hi,

no, this is not about electrical noise...

I am planning a small (in terms of size) class-d multichannel amp powered by some SMPS.

I found some Meanwell SMPS >400W that would fit quite nice (budget and specs), but they all have a cooling fan. Meanwell FAQs claim that the fans are regulated with different strategies in different models (off/half/full, depending on load, temperature, etc.). But, I didn't find any noise figures.

Does anybody have any experience with the fans of the bigger Meanwell SMPS?
Are they suitable for an amp with respect to noise of the cooling fans (stock without modifying SMPS) or are they just to loud/annoying?

I have a commercial AV-Receiver with a fan, and this one is really annoying while watching movies...

Thanks,
steginger

I repaired thousands of them in videogames. The fan usually is wired directly to 12 or 24V depending of the unit, so constant running. Sometimes it will go wrong and the supply destroys itself. In those environments, noise is a don't care, confidable running is preferable.

Mean well are "medio pelo" (Medium quality) Power supplies. Why not change for a Lambda, for example? If you live in Germany, Murr or Siemens are clearly best.
