Mcintosh Amps

I have a unit of Mcintosh MC2100 which has been recently damaged by lightning. I intend to rebuild the unit's damaged pcbs and replace some output devices. The original OP devices are dated Motorolas MJs and I've heard improved sounds by substituting these MJs with Toshiba's 2SA1302s and 2SC3281s in other audio equipment. Anybody tried the Toshibas with Mcintosh sets? Since I'm making new pcbs, I'm also thinking of replacing the carbon resistors with good(non audiophile) metal films and also to some better grade caps. I think this will definitely alter the sound character of the Mac. Would appreciate if anybody who had tried any of these stunts let me know the outcome. BTW, if there's anybody out there interested in rebuilding or building a MC2100, let me know and I may be able to make some extra pcbs on a non-profit basis.
