Might there be anyone on Long Island or in the NYC area who has Quad 57s, 63s, 988s, 989s or newer?

Or any Acoustat 2s, 3s, or 4s?

Or any Open Baffle speakers, be they Lowthers or

….or you name it.

I’ve googled for hours but can’t find any possible local owners.

Flying’s a problem, so traveling hundreds of miles is not an option.

Willing to pay a reasonable fee for an hour session.

Thanks

Hello oltos, I live in Hagerstown, Md. 2 miles from the Mason-Dixon Line. I am 240 miles from New York City. I don't know if that is too far. I have 4 pair of Acoustats. Model 3's, 2 pair of 2+2's and a pair of Spectra 66's. You are welcome to come for an audition. I have owned Acoustats since 1986. I love each and every model. You wouldn't have to pay for a listening session. Maybe just a 6 pack of Michelob Ultra.

I've got Quad 57's and 63's, and sometimes newer models. I've been repairing them for over 20 years. I don't have a great listening space, but reasonable enough to hear the capabilities of the speakers. I generally drive the original esl's with quad II's or an EL34 amp, and I drive the 63's with a modified classe stereo 70, Quad 99 system, or a Citation II. The source is a DAC of my own design.

I'm in central New Hampshire (upper valley), and you are welcome to hear them.

No charge of course...

Arrrrghhhh! Such great speakers and expert restorers but so many miles. If only flying wasn't the big problem. Thanks anyway guys. Yes, Ben I did do peak and average SPL tests with my 3M SL meter. Bear was right about me understating the required levels, at least for my living room (vs. my bedroom)-and I have sensitive hearing with good response.
