anyone have any idea what the maximum safe voltage you can use with the SI T-amp ?
I have a failry beefy 15v DC supply and wonder if it's saafe to use. T-amp says 12v but not sure if it has any safety/regulation

15 volts will cook it.
I don't like to go much over 13V. Some guys have run them at 13.8V without immediate trouble, others have fried the chip.
I would consider 13.8 to be the limit of what is safe, but feel better about lower voltages.

I tried different voltages and was checking the chip temperature with an infrared thermometer. I did have a small aluminum computer memory chip heatsink on it.
I had one running at 13.8 volts, but the chip generated quite a bit of heat. At 14v it went into thermal shutdown. I eventually decided on 13.2v. At this level, the chip ran at least 10-15 degrees C cooler than at 13.8.
While the chip does have thermal protection, word is that continued operation at high temperatures will eventually degrade/destroy the chip.
