I have a Carlsbro gdx-7 300 watt amplifier
The problem is when i connect a mono signal into channel 1 with 1/4 jack
it works fine. But the gain is only turned up to about 1
& the master is not even at 1 & its so loud...whats the problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

Is it just channel 1?
The signal is line level to the hi-Z input?
From what I can find the XLR is lo-Z microphone and the 1/4" jack is hi-Z instrument level - is that what you are expecting?
yes line level as on all amps for instrument inputs.
Its just that there is very little movement. on most amps you have a degree of movement on the pot for low to high volume. this amp ..its as little as a fraction on the pot
I would expect the master pot to turn at least halfway to get the volume to what it is now
and the same for the gain? Am i explaining this correctly.
It's as if the input signal is 10 x it's normal

Instrument level can be much less than Hi-Fi line level.
As far apart as 0.020V versus 2V.

so how would be the best to feed my cd or pc into it.
would i use line in at the rear? not used to this vintage gear
Checked the pots & they are linear b10k
This might give sudden volume. will change to log A10k tapered
all the gain & master volumes are B10ka checked them & no taper
so this would give a sudden volume increase with very little turning of the knob
will return with results? soon

Hi
Just trust MikeATX, PRR and llwhtt
Channel 7 is line input use a Clutch to switch from Jack to RCA
Plug it in where it reads CD in adjust volume
Do not tamper with volume Controls on Guitar or instrumental AMPS
They are made with B Volume. so that it increases loudness in a Linear way.
Live Music and Home Stereo are not the same.
Plugging Line it at the CD and your musical Instrument at the regular Pickup input
you could even mix the sound together..
Listen to these guys they know what they talking about..
I own a Studio Mixing Console... So I think it would be far off if I would
give a false answer.
