I was going to email him, them I thought that this could be usefull for others.
I wanted to know if the volume of the port is taken into account in the final box volume when calculating a speaker.
I tried figuring it out looking at the spreadsheet whitout any results.

Sorry, I don't have your answer, but I do have a question. 🙂
Is this an Excel spreadsheet, or does it require MathCad? If it's an Excel spreadsheet, where can I find it?
Thanks.
Hi Ilianh,
No, the volume of the port is not accounted for in the internal volume of the box. The worksheet "thinks" that the port extends outside the box. If you wanted to get really precise, I guess you could model the individual sections so that the section just before the port and just after the port had a reduced area to account for the port's volume.
Hope that helps,

Sorry Dave. It is another MathCad worksheet, I don't work in Excel (I hate spreadsheets!). MathCad is a great package. Last years version can be picked up at a great discount on Ebay.

What version should I be looking for? There are a lot of ads for academic versions. I suppose that's not what you are refering to.
I would look for MathCad 2000 as a minimum. I personally like 2000 better then 2001 or 2001i. An academic version should also work fine. MathCad 2000 runs on 98 through XP without any problems, I have done it.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I'm running Windows 2000. MathCad 2000 should work -- riiiight? 🙂
Ebay has MathCad 11 for a very good price if you qualify for an academic version. I paid over $500 out of my own pocket for my personal copy of MathCad 11 and think it was worth every penny. At the prices listed on Ebay it's a steal.
