The schematics are available at www.marklev.com. I don't know if all the original parts are still available, though.

I always thought it was a fascinating design, both in philosophy and execution. I'd say go for it.
While you're at it, you could build a JC-2 preamp to push the thing, but I'd be wary of the phono stage. If memory serves, the RIAA EQ was a little off. Not that you couldn't fix it, mind you. The line stage should be fine, as is. Very minimalist & elegant.
