Markaudio CHN-50 simple 3-driver soundbar

Scott, I started building a quick prototype enclosure to do some listening comparisons and saw on the diagram that the center of the vent is specified as 10mm from the back inside of the enclosure. Is this supposed to be 30mm? With 15mm of lining and a 30mm dia vent, 30mm would be about the minimum distance from the back wall.
Sorry, typo. Yes, it should be 30mm. Just watch the sizing (tube thickness) so there's sufficient clearance to the back of the driver! This isn't one for my favourite heavy-duty cardboard map tubes as some may end up being a bit too thick. 😉

At any rate I ordered a batch of CHN-50's from Madisound. When they show up that project will go onto the queue I've been trying to work off since I retired a year ago. First order of business is re-foaming the AR-14's I've had since college. Every pair of speakers I've owned since then has suffered by comparison, I suspect that has to do more with nostalgia than science.
Possibly. Or it might be simply because they were a well-designed speaker of their type, and you like them. Nothing wrong with that!

I was looking through my scrap box to see what I had that was round and about 30mm dia. Closest I could find was some leftover sink tailpiece that's about 1.5" OD with wall thickness around 0.065". Works out to an ID of 34.8mm so I recalculated the port length to be 131mm or so.

No builds as far as I know, but no reason why it shouldn't work fine for what it is.

I'm building the 2-driver unit as my first build getting back into speakers after a decade break. Was hoping to get your advice Scott as 15-20mm felt has been impossible to find at any sort of reasonable price in consumer-level quantities down here in New Zealand, so was hoping for a guide on alternatives? Would a couple layers of woolen moving blankets work? Or possibly 500gsm woolen weed mat?

Appreciate any help you can spare.
