Hello. I'm new to DIY and have been trying to find out what I can about repairing these pre-amps on this great site. Between the two units, I have one that will work for now since the modules seem to be interchangable. However, I had replaced modules back in the early 1980s and 90s so I know that if I use this thing it is surely going to crap out again in short order. When we bought these things in the 70s we were told by Mark Levinson that it would be much safer to by this than that Audio Research sp-3a1 because you can repair the ML but you won't be able to get tubes, etc. for the ARC. When I contacted ML about new modules they couldn't care less. So, it appears we are stuck with an ultra-expensive box of wires! Has anyone found a way to make new modules yet? Or, can this box of wires be used as a passive attentuator? What are we supposed to do with these boxes of wires? Throw them away? I found someone in Italy who may be making replacement modules but I cannot determine how much it costs and don't know if it is valid. Plus, it seems they are asking you to send the entire pre-amp to them which I don't understand. I'm hoping that now in 2012 someone may have come up with a solution. Please help. Thanks.
first, you better post this somewhere other than the forum support area, this area is for reporting problems with the forum software and forum layout, server issues etc.
for example if someone is having problems seeing the solid state amps forum, they might mention it here …
