I noticed the CHP-90 is listed on the Mark Audio site. Is this a new driver? Anyone had experience with it?
It has been around for awhile, not much comment on it (what there has been has been positive), i have not done any boxes for them yet, Scott has.

It is thought to be the same cone as the CHN50P (tentative name) as it is a paper cone with mica.
It was sold in Japan as a combination of CHN50P and Tozzi one kit (now disconnected).

Thanks dave, nandappe. I'm curious about this cone material. Specs seem very similar to CHR-90 for the rest.
I got CHP-90 mica, and the basket is exactly the same as CHR-90.
If they use the same basket, the name CHR-90P is more appropriate than CHP-90.
I am listening to it right away and it sounds great even though it is new.
The CHR-90 was a disappointment, but I hope the CHP-90 will be as good as the MAOP.

The difference is the cone, CHR are metal cones, CHP are paper cones. Yours has mica and glassfiber reinforced paper cones, not a copper-alloy cone like the CHR drivers. The difference in response is that the metal cones have a more bright topend, due to the resonance that is less damped (but still very controlled). The paper cones sound in general more like the oldskool drivers from the 1960's and 1970's while the metal cones have a more modern sound like the legendaric Jordans.I got CHP-90 mica, and the basket is exactly the same as CHR-90.

I did not hear it, so i can't tell. But it looks like it.Is CHP-90 a bigger version of CHP-70?
CHP-90 and CHR-90 are the same price.
21,000 Japanese yen (1 pair).
CHP-90 has paper and mica and Kevlar fibers mixed together and has the advantages of both metal and paper cones.
It has a different sound vector from other paper only cones.
By the way, the basket of the CHP-90 I got has CHR-90 stamped on it.
Maybe this driver is a prototype?

Received mine today. Anyone know the basic burn in time for them? Is it10 hours like the ms7, maop etc, or longer like the Pluvia 7HD?
Shot them an email. If no reply mid-week, I'll try the ol' fashion telephone approach. Crossing my fingers as it looks like a good driver to try an original build with.Call them. Maybe they are on order and just haven't arrived yet.

Oooooh!
Hi Tom,
That must be a new one. It was not available for order the last time we placed an order. If it is now in production, we would add it to our next order in early 2023, and expect that here in the next few months.
Happy Holidays!
Adam
Europe have CHP-90.
I gave them a order and they import the driver. Still here.

I like the sound of chp-90.
Note that these are cheaper drivers from MarkAudio, they are not perfect. Build quality seems excellent, on par with my Alpair 10.3, but the my pair of drivers has some lead wire noise(audible when playing pure 40hz tone at ~3mm excursion). I fixed this by applying half drop of 3-in-One motor oil on the lead wires(don't put it close to the cone). After that the driver is completely quiet with the same tone.
The drivers has a quick, light feet sound. I don't like the original Alpair 10p, probably the 500hz distortion peak was the culprit. This time CHP-90 only has minor surround dip at ~1.1khz, probably suggest that the cone is more stiff than the A10p.
My pair was quite matched up to 10khz. Pair matching can't be compared with MarkAudio's metal cone drivers(I have many MarkAudio drivers before. A7m, A10.3, MAOP11, ...). But I admit I don't hear any localization issues.. Thankfully above 10khz there's little real musical information.. only "air".

It doesn't matter -- as long as they are measured in the same condition. The raw driver measurement is the same, if you are talking about pair matching.
but I don't mind sharing, they are in a Tannoy Precision 6.1 box, tuned to ~45hz.

I wonder if anything can be done to smooth out the top end ~10dB swings 4-8khz (not DSP). I finally was able to get them in Nov/Dec after inquiring (the CHP-90 had been bunched with the R and unfindable). My impression of brand new drivers was low-ish dynamics which correlated with the ~5khz valley.
